The abdomen is a critical cavity in the body housing many vital organs, and is an area which needs special care and attention. The importance of abdominal massage cannot be overstated and this type of transformative touch brings about healing from within and can set you on a direction to better health for all the systems of the body.
Specifically, when the digestive and elimination systems are compromised it affects everything...with resulting symptoms such as headaches, anxiety, fatigue, lung issues, nausea, indigestion, constipation, IBS, backaches, pain and so much more!
Through focusing on the abdomen, this holistic and gentle approach takes into account each individual as a whole and complete system. Working with your breathing and listening to the body's tissues, soft but deep techniques release restrictions around the organs, nerves, blood vessels, joints, fascia, and brain. These manual techniques are used to tonify, detoxify, and train the internal organs to work more efficiently. The effects can be felt throughout the entire body!
I am so thankful for the many wonderful teachers that have crossed my path over the years who have inspired me with their knowledge, compassion, and friendship. Being educated and experienced in many forms of abdominal massage, I have combined these different techniques into the systemic / visceral work that I offer my clients. From the Arvigo Techniques® to visceral manipulation, myofascial, Chi Nei Tsang, lymphatic, trauma massage, cranio-sacral and others, my intention is aimed at fostering optimum visceral health and true core wellness.
"All disease begins in the gut." (Hippocrates)
Within us all there is a silent system working to keep us healthy...the lymphatic system...who's impact is so far reaching that many don't even realize that minor aches and pains, low energy, or susceptibility to colds and flu may be due to sluggish lymph. This system supports every other system in the body, including the digestive, immune, detoxification, and nervous systems.
Your lymphatics is actually a vital circulatory system with an extensive network of vessels, nodes, and organs located throughout the body, and contains about 50% more fluid than blood! Your lymphatic system is your primary defense against bacteria, viruses, and fungus. Unlike your venous system, however, your lymph system has no pumping mechanism to keep the fluid circulating throughout the body. Therefore, it is always at a higher risk for blockages and stagnation, and uniquely susceptible to stress. The good news is that lymphatic health can be restored, even in cases of severe impairment.
Lymphatic massage and drainage therapy dramatically reduces inflammation and swelling, local and system wide, while bolstering the body's immune system. As the lymph moves - located just below the skin, in the "creases" of the body, and in the abdomen - the whole body relaxes. This gentle, superficial technique has such a deep impact and is one of the most important holistic massage services I offer here at A NEW LEAF! At the end of the session, you will feel relaxed and refreshed ...there is nothing like it!
Add Dry Skin Brushing to your massage session -- $15.00 added Cost
Dr. Rosita Arvigo, a Doctor of Naprapathy (study of ligaments, joints, and muscles), as well as a teacher, author, and world-respected ethnobotanist, developed this technique using ancient teachings and her apprenticeship with one of the last traditional Maya healers in Central America, Don Elijio Panti (heralded by the New York Times as "The last Maya master healer in Belize").
"If a woman's uterus is out of balance, so is she." -- Don Elijo Panti
This slow, gentle, non-invasive, external massage technique of the abdomen, back, and uterus gently guides the internal organs into their proper position for optimum health and well-being. The techniques work by relieving congestion and blockages to improve the flow of energy (chi) and fluids of the circulatory, lymphatic, and nervous systems to prevent the progression of chronic disease symptomology, improve organ functions while assisting the body's ability to self-repair and balance.
This work is best known for the correction of the prolapsed or tilted uterus, regulate and improve painful monthly cycles, ability to enhance fertility, prevention and treatment of benign prostate enlargement in men, and for relief of many common digestive and elimination disorders.

This therapy encourages self-care to enhance the professional sessions. Instructions in the application of abdominal massage is provided and reviewed at subsequent appointments. In addition to the simple abdominal massage one performs at home to keep the muscles and ligaments in their new, healthy position, additional supportive modalities to support the individual's health struggles may be added.
As there is much background information needed on your overall health, a special medical intake form is mailed in advance of your first appointment. It is recommended that the first session be 90 minutes (especially if dealing with fertility issues / concerns) to allow time for a full evaluation, massage treatment and self-care instructions. In addition, a minimum of 3 follow-up monthly visits of 1 hour each be made to monitor changes occurring in the various systems of the body.
Most all women experience breast tenderness or pain sometime during their life. This might be from breast disease (such as fibrocystic conditions), injury, premenstrual symptoms (tenderness or swelling), lactation, or following surgical procedures such as reductions or enhancements, biopsies, and lumpectomies or mastectomies.
I am proud to offer this progressive, nurturing therapeutic massage treatment designed to improve the blood and lymphatic circulation to the breast. Better blood flow nourishes tissues while improved lymphatic flow rids the body of toxins. This exclusive massage utilizes advanced techniques to help reduce post-operative pain and scar tissue, remove harmful toxins, increase range of motion, and speed recovery.
Please know that mutual trust is always important especially with this type of sensitive massage treatment and is always done with respect and integrity.

In addition, studies have shown that cancer patients experience less pain, anxiety, nausea or fatigue, increased immune responses, and felt more relaxed after receiving massage. Where the Pros Go!
Sports Massage is a type of massage designed for highly active people who engage in athletics. Whether you are a weekend warrior or an elite athlete, all physical activity can be hard on the body, often leading to injuries in both the short and long term. Sports Massage enhances performance and prolongs a sports career by helping to prevent injury, reduce pain and swelling in the body, relax the mind, increase flexibility, and dramatically improve recovery rates. It is also highly effective in aiding the rapid recovery of an athlete from an injury by encouraging greater kinesthetic awareness and in turn promoting the body's natural immune function.
In addition, because of my advanced training and experience working with elite, professional and Olympic athletes, I can effectively provide one-on-one assistance during your intense training, sporting event, and injury recovery. Call me for details for this type of specialized massage work.
